WORDS BY WOMEN:
A reading series focused on bringing to the stage new works by female playwrights/playwrights that identify as female.
- We encourage casts with a majority of women.
- We encourage plays exploring social issues facing women today.
- Full-length ONLY.
- No more than 7 characters.
- National and International plays accepted but special attention will be given to playwrights living in and around New York.

Email submissions will not be accepted. Write “Words by Women” on envelope.
Full-length plays only:
- scripts must be firmly bound
- No changes or revisions accepted after submission
- No double-sided pages.
With your submission, please include:
- Biography and/or author’s history of the play
- Character breakdown
- Brief synopsis of the play.
- SASE (a small one for a response letter).
- Play MAY HAVE BEEN developed elsewhere, BUT NEVER PRODUCED in New York City.
- There is no limit to submission. Subject matter and character variations are open.
- There is no submission fee.
- It usually takes two to six months for us to read and process your script. We ask that you do not call or email our offices to inquire on the status of your play.
- Plays from overseas and throughout the United States are accepted and considered. BUT special attention will be given to playwrights who live in or near New York.
- We cannot accept ten-minute or one-act plays at this time.
- We recycle all plays after reading.
